face2face

In my thesis project i have examined the way we write. Writing allows us to preserve
and transmit meaning, generate information and expressing ourselfs as individuals.
Writing is a basic cultural technique for interaction between the self and the others.

“face2face“ is an experimental projects exploring the act of writing in the digital domain.
This is based on research about forms of interaction at the human – computer interface
and driven by a strong personal interest in exploring the boundaries and progression
between the physical and the digital world.

This mock-up application is researching different ways of expressing feelings through
textual form. This is also a new approach to responsive typographic design. Using this
tool it is possible to use means of expression like “irony” in written text. Face2face uses
new forms of textual expression to reflect the writers moods or facial expressions in a
direct way (as opposed to emoticons or smileys). This could be used to alert a responder
or reader to the tenor or temper of a statement thus can change and improve interpretation
of plain text.

“fac2face” project is work in progress and will be developed further. Particularly the visual is
only basic proof of concept so far.
