Communication is the process of transferring information from a sender to a receiver using a medium in which the communicated information is understood by both the sender and receiver. It is a process that allows organisms to exchange information through specified methods.
This project explores what a visual chat between two computers could look like. The result is an experimental setup—an installation piece that leans more toward artwork than machine. The basic setup consists of two Apple MacBook Pro computers. They face each other, screen to screen, with their built-in webcams observing the other’s monitor. The system can be manually triggered with any kind of visual input, which the machine then processes.
External factors such as lighting conditions, reflections, distortions, monitor angles, webcam settings, CPU power, and other variables significantly influence the system. As a result, it easily mutates, evolves, and changes in unpredictable ways.
The beauty lies in the imperfections.
